Position: HR Assistant
Location: Asheville, NC
Reports To: HR Director

Job Summary
Ed Holmes and Associates Land Surveyors, PA, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented HR Assistant to assist the HR department with daily tasks, employee support, and administrative duties. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, a strong communicator, and passionate about supporting HR functions in a fast-paced, growing company.

Key Responsibilities
-Administrative Support: Provide day-to-day administrative support to the HR Director, including scheduling meetings, organizing files, and managing HR documentation.
-Employee Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with company policies and relevant legal regulations.
-Onboarding: Assist in the onboarding process for new hires, including preparing new hire paperwork, coordinating orientations, and ensuring all documents are completed and filed.
-Recruitment Assistance: Support the recruitment process by posting job openings, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews with candidates.
-Benefits Administration: Assist employees with questions regarding benefits, such as health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off policies. Ensure employees have the necessary resources for benefit enrollment.
-Policy and Handbook Updates: Help draft and update company policies and the employee handbook to ensure compliance with state and federal labor laws.
-Employee Engagement: Help plan and execute company events, such as potlucks, team-building activities, and employee recognition programs.
-HR Data Entry: Assist with maintaining HR databases, including updating employee information, tracking time-off requests, and processing payroll changes as needed.
-Compliance: Ensure that all HR activities are in compliance with company policies, local laws, and regulations.
-Support Employee Relations: Assist the HR Director with employee relations issues, including preparing documentation for meetings, tracking performance, and ensuring proper follow-up.

Qualifications
-Education: High school diploma or GED required; some college education in human resources, business administration, or related fields preferred.
-Experience: Prior experience in an administrative or HR support role.
-Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with HR software or systems (Ajera, ADP) is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive employee information confidentially.

Working Conditions
-Primarily in an office environment with occasional attendance at company events or meetings.
-Full-time position with normal business hours, Monday through Friday.
